The Windsor Castle is over 900 years old, and it is the oldest occupied castle in the world. Windsor Castle has areas of interest for everyone in the family, so be sure to allow 2 to 3 hours to explore.
What to see during your tour:
The State Apartments - furnished with fine art from the Royal Collection, and is home to the paints of Brueghel, Holbein, Rubens and Van Dyck.
Queen Mary's Dolls House - build by Sir Edwin Lutyens in the early 1920s. The most intricate architecture in the world and be sure to observe the fine details of the house which was specially made for Queen Mary.
St George's Chapel - the burial site of 10 monarchs including Henry VIII and Charles I, and is a shining example of Gothic architecture build in the 14th century.
The ticket prices are £21.80 for an adult, £19.30 for a student and these are 2018 ticket prices which are valid 9th January to 31st December 2018.
Be sure to see the ceremonial military parade and Changing the Guard on the high street and into the castle to the Lower Ward. The ceremony lasts 30 minutes and starts at 11:00. Queen Scout Awards in Windsor
This event goes back 80 years and this achievement is recognises both adults and children for their outstanding contributions. There is an annual parade and service within Windsor Castle by Her Majesty the Queen.
LEGOLAND Windsor Resort
Windsor is home to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort which is a fun-filled family theme park for 3 to 12 year old's. The Resort has plenty for the whole family to enjoy and is within close proximity to us. Windsor Boat Trips
French Brothers Ltd run boat trips from Windsor, Runnymede and Maidenhead. Visitors can choose between a 40-minute return trip or a 2 hour trip to catch breath taking views of the Castle. If you book in advance online you will receive a discount and please click here for updated ticket prices.
Royal Ascot Racecourse
Queen Anne identified the potential for a racecourse in Ascot in 1711, and ever since then Ascot has been known for creating a memorable day out. In June, the Royal Ascot races take place, and the key dates in 2018 are Tuesday 19th June to Saturday 23rd June. For more information on prices and to find the best enclosures please click here. The gates open at 10:30am and the first race is at 2:30pm.
Wednesday 20th June - Race Meet this is a more-gently paced day which is enjoyed by a slightly smaller crowd.
Thursday 21st June - Ladies Day and traditionally Fashion takes centre stage on Gold Cup on this day.
Friday 22nd June - The highlight of the day is Group One Coronation Stakes which was run in 1840. A second Group One race, the Commonwealth Cup was introduced in 2015.
Saturday 23rd June - Royal Ascot closes with the Group One Diamond Jubliee Stakes: one of the world's great international sprint races.
Royal Windsor Racecourse is set on 165 acres and offers Racing and events throughout the year.
Saturday 30th June - Gentlemen's Day which is the perfect opportunity for an afternoon to enjoy the racing and a chance to win the Best Dressed Male Competition.
Sunday 1st July - Windsormania Family Fun Day Music Festival which includes 7 races for the adults to enjoy and kids have an opportunity to use the Free Funfair.
Monday 2nd July - Ronnie Scott's Live in Association with Thames Valley Air Ambulance which features world famous musicians after the racing.
